Participating in your scheme’s decision-making is an important part of strata ownership. If you’re unable to attend a meeting in person, or wish to nominate someone to a council position, here’s what you need to know.

A proxy allows you to appoint another person to attend a strata meeting and vote on your behalf. This ensures your voice is represented even when you can’t be there in person. Your appointed proxy may be another lot owner within the scheme, or in some cases a nominated representative.

Nominating an Attendee (Proxy)

A formal and signed Proxy Form is required prior to General Meetings for a number of reasons:

• If you are unable to attend a General Meeting and wish for your vote to be represented.
• If you have a Corporate Ownership and must designate the Representative of the Lot.
• If you have Co-Ownership and must designate One Owner to Represent your Lot.

Nomination for Council of Owners

Lot owners are invited to nominate themselves or a fellow proprietor for election to the Council of the Strata Company at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The Council plays a vital role in the management and administration of the strata scheme on behalf of all owners. Members elected to the Council are responsible for making decisions relating to the common property, finances, and by-laws of the Strata Company.

To be eligible for nomination, the nominee must be a lot owner or, in the case of a corporate proprietor, an authorised representative. All sections of this form must be completed in full, including the consent of the nominee. Where a lot is co-owned, all co-proprietors must sign the nomination.
